Introduction

If you are looking to embark on a career as a complimentary/ beauty therapist or wishing to specialise in advanced aesthetic procedures such as laser tattoo removal our VTCT Level 3 Award in Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complimentary Therapies is designed to equip you with the knowledge, practical skills and industry-required qualification to be able do this with confidence. Our VTCT qualifications are world class and recognised across the UK, Ireland, and internationally and is regulated by national organisations including Ofqual, SQA, DfES and CCEA.

Course structure

This is a knowledge based qualification so theory only and is completed entirely as home-study making this an ideal route for those who wish to study flexibly around other commitments. This includes written assignments and knowledge testing quizzes as required by the awarding body VTCT.

At the time of booking your qualification, you will have access to your study materials (including: manual, power point presentations, worksheets and our Student Handbook). Once you have completed all theory coursework and it has been submitted and marked by an assessor, you will arrange to attend a multiple choice written assessment day, consisting of 2 separate papers. A 70% pass rate much be achieved.

Once you have completed your assessment days and deemed to be competent you will receive an ABT accredited certificate from the Beacon Academy to allow you to obtain Public Liability Insurance so you can start offering treatments to paying clients from home and/or in employment.  You will then receive your VTCT qualification certificate (this can take up to 12 weeks to be released from the awarding body VTCT).

The aim of this unit is to develop your knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology and pathology, namely the organisation of the body, and the structure, function and pathologies of the skin, hair and nails.

You will also learn about the structure, function and pathologies of the human body systems including, the skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, urinary and reproductive system.

The qualification not only provides you with extensive career opportunities in both the beauty industry and the medical world, it is also internationally recognised and is a pre-requisite for more advanced aesthetic procedures such as laser if you do not have a beauty or medical background.

Entry requirements

There are no pre-requirements to completing this qualification. It can be completed as a standalone qualification or as the first step towards taking more advanced beauty or aesthetics training.
